National Steering Committee on Peacebuilding and Conflict Management (NSC) was established in 2001 within the Ministry of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security in the Office of the President, and became operational in November 2002 with the placement of a Secretariat.
NSC is an interagency committee that seeks to strengthen, co-ordinate, and integrate various conflict management initiatives, the government and civil society organizations (CSOs).
As an interagency, NSC brings together in a bid to co-ordinate and consolidate efforts geared towards peace building and conflict management in Kenya as well as cross-border peace stakeholders, representatives from relevant Government Ministries and Departments, umbrella civil society organizations, development partners, and UN agencies.
